Overview
The months of April through May are a good time to visit Ladakh, as many of the tourist attractions would be open. June through August months are also popular among trekkers because they are less crowded than other seasons. Because Ladakh’s elevation is so high, it has long winters. The following are some of the locations to see in Ladakh.
Pangong Lake, the most popular touristic destination in Ladakh, is an endorheic (landlocked) lake that sits at 4350 meters above sea level. It is also known as Pangong Tso and measures 12 kilometers in length and stretches from India to Tibet. Almost 60% of Pangong Lake lies within the Tibetan Autonomous Region, making it unique. The lake’s distinctiveness stems from its ability to change hue from blue to light blue to green and grey over the course of a year! It is common among tourists to refer to it as Ladakh Lake, where the Bollywood film 3 Idiots was filmed.
